Apollo 9

Apollo 9 was the sixth space flight of the Apollo program , launched on March 3, 1969 . He would be in charge of testing the lunar module . It was the third manned mission of the Apollo program. The team consisted of James A. McDivitt (commander), David R. Scott and Russell L. Schweickart , who used the cockpit that should deposit astronauts on the surface of the Moon.
Schweickart made an exit to the space of 37 minutes of duration, destined to test the space suit that was to be used in the descent to the Moon.
These autonomous devices, capable of withstanding temperatures in the range of minus 150 ° C to plus 130 ° C, should also protect astronauts from the impact of micrometeorites (speeds close to 100,000 km / h), guarantee communication and provide vital support for three hours.
